Mary Ann Rivers
Mary Ann Rivers has over six years of experience in working directly with grants focused on the physical, mental, and overall well-being of older adults in communities. In this role, she builds strong relationships with both current and potential stakeholders and community partners, while also providing direct education to communities. Drawing from Behavioral Science strategies like Motivational Interviewing and Appreciative Inquiry to tailor outreach strategies for engagement based on local preferences.
Before transitioning to a career in public health and nonprofit work, Mary Ann worked in finance in Manhattan. After pausing to raise her children, she made the shift to focus on improving the lives of others, especially older adults.
Mary Ann’s passion for serving older adults has taken her across five continents. She has spent time in both rural and urban communities, immersing herself in the unique cultures of each region. She cherishes learning local cooking traditions and connecting with elders in family kitchens.
Mary Ann and her husband, Michael, who has lived in Minnesota for most of his life, have three adult children, a granddaughter, and a beloved rescue dog named Buddy. They enjoy exploring Minnesota by bicycle, often spending weekends traveling through the State’s diverse landscape.
