From Ideas to Action: Shaping Minnesota’s Future for Aging  

Join Age-Friendly Minnesota for an inside look at the Multisector Blueprint for Aging Action Teams Report and discover how diverse partners came together to develop nearly 100 recommendations for a more age-friendly Minnesota.

  1. Explore recommendations addressing housing, transportation, digital engagement, emergency preparedness, integrated care, health and well-being, basic needs, and older adults in the workforce. 
  2. Learn not only what was recommended, but how we got there—and what comes next.

PRESENTERS

Lisa Edstrom, MBA 

Lisa serves as the Director of the Age-Friendly Minnesota Council. Established by Governor’s executive order, the Council exists to elevate the voice of older adults in developing the vision and action plan for an age-friendly state. With the Age Friendly staff, Lisa manages the community and technical grant program and nine action teams working to implement Minnesota’s Mulitsector Blueprint for Aging. Lisa has over 40 years of professional experience in health care business and administration and has held leadership roles in public, private and academic settings. She is lifelong, PROUD Minnesotan, a master naturalist, certified yoga instructor and passionate backcountry adventurer. 


Farah Baig, PhD


As Systems Consultant for Age-Friendly Minnesota, Farah combines expertise in policy, community engagement, and strategic planning and focuses much of her time on the development and implementation of Minnesota’s Multisector Blueprint for Aging.

She earned her PhD in Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development from the University of Minnesota. There, her dissertation research explored the intersection of higher education, age-friendly ecosystems, and lifelong learning with a particular focus on the lived experience of older adult students on campus.

With an extensive career as an educator within urban schools in the United States and abroad, her work emphasizes fostering inclusive, intergenerational environments and advocating for the needs of communities impacted by systemic inequities. Beyond her professional roles, she’s a proud mom of four adults navigating life and recently began enjoying the title of ‘grandma’!

The Age-Friendly Care and Education Collection is a curated online library of educational, clinical, and research resources for educators, health professionals, learners, and others interested in improving care for older adults. This fully searchable collection includes citations and links to resources including geriatric competencies, clinical guidelines, education toolkits / modules, case studies, clinical tools, preceptor materials, patient and caregiver education materials, journal articles, videos, and more. Contributions of Age-Friendly resources are welcomed at this website!
