African immigrants are a fast-growing segment of the U.S. Black population, but the dementia care needs of this population are not fully understood. The webinar will illustrate how a successful three-year community partnership facilitated African Immigrant engagement in research to create the African MaDE: Memory and Dementia Education, by and for the African Immigrant community.

Manka Nkimbeng, PhD, MPH, RN.
Dr. Nkimbeng is a researcher and assistant professor at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. She worked with the community to develop and disseminate a dementia education program for African immigrants. She works with the community to grow and adapt interventions to support Black immigrant families living with and supporting someone living with dementia. She was recently selected for a Bush Fellowship that will enable her to continue closing equity gaps in healthcare through coalition-building and conflict resolution.
